49th Season

Bearsted Choral Society continues to keep together during the covid 19 crisis.

In September, we will commence our 50th season, although not quite in the way we had envisaged, so....

We meet online every Monday for a Zoom rehearsal led by our Music Director, Andrew Lowen and our accompanist, Trevor Brearley. Initially, in March, we prepared to say 'goodbye' with an online sing-through rehearsal, until we were through an uncertain future and able to meet up again. However, for the past eight weeks, we have studied a wide variety of music styles covering Music Hall songs, Show songs, Karl Jenkins, Sam Wesley, Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, Britten 'rejoice in the lamb', Parry 'I was glad', The Sound of Music (with our special guest 'goat herd') and next week, songs from Oliver! There is even rumour of a musical 'Quiz Night' to round off our end of term.

So, with up to 35 singers joining in on a weekly basis, we are still very much here and in action! We must acknowledge the hard work that Andrew has put into preparing each Zoom rehearsal. There is undoubtably more work preparing for one of these sessions than there is for a normal rehearsal. But without these weekly events, where would we be?

Let's hope for a safe and speedy end to this crisis so that we can all get back to whatever we were doing; work, school, play and, of course, music!

Stay safe.

Welcome to Bearsted Choral Society

Bearsted Choral Society is an amateur four-part choir of 50 members. We sing a variety of choral music spanning all musical periods. The Concerts archive provides a more detailed history of our varied repertoire.
Most of our concerts are given in and around Bearsted often with professional soloists and orchestra.
We have a committed approach to our singing but our primary aim is to enjoy making music together. The choir is known for its friendliness, something which is highly valued by its members.

Thinking of joining a choir?

The society welcomes new members in all voice parts - soprano alto tenor and bass.
