Bearsted Choral Society

50th Anniversary Season

Registered charity no. 1135663

Bearsted Choral Society wishes you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

50th Anniversary and the Covid 19 crisis

In September, we commenced our 50th season, although not quite in the way we had envisaged!

Initially in March, we prepared to say 'goodbye' with an online sing-through rehearsal, until we were through an uncertain future and able to meet up again.

This was so appreciated that we meet online every Monday for a Zoom rehearsal led by our Music Director, Andrew Lowen and our accompanist, Trevor Brearley.

We are currently rehearsing our annual collection of Christmas music and readings

Our Spring Term commences on Monday 4th January and we shall be continuing rehearsals for

Mozart's Requiem Mass

Joseph Haydn's 'Little Organ Mass'

With 40 singers rehearsing on a weekly basis, we are still very much here and in action! We greatly appreciate the hard work that Andrew Lowen puts into preparing each Zoom rehearsal. There is undoubtably more work preparing for one of these sessions than there is for a normal rehearsal.

If you are missing singing or would like to give it a go and join us in our rehearsals, you will receive a very warm welcome. There's more information on this website or contact membership@bearstedchoral.org.uk  and we will be pleased to explain more.

We all hope for a safe and speedy resolution to this crisis so that we can resume 'in person' rehearsals.

Stay safe.

Welcome to Bearsted Choral Society

Bearsted Choral Society is an amateur four-part choir of 50 members. We sing a variety of choral music spanning all musical periods. The Concerts archive provides a more detailed history of our varied repertoire.
Most of our concerts are given in and around Bearsted often with professional soloists and orchestra.
We have a committed approach to our singing but our primary aim is to enjoy making music together. The choir is known for its friendliness, something which is highly valued by its members.

Thinking of joining a choir?

The society welcomes new members in all voice parts - soprano alto tenor and bass.
